Holly Homemaker to the rescue!
Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day. Who knew 75º could feel so liberating? I had to ditch my sweater not long after this was taken. TOO HOT. That’s the great thing about Spring – with the weather flip-flopping, so does the fashion. We still see boots one day and then sandals, light jackets and scarves, and short sleeves as the day goes on.
MB said that it looked like I was trying to hide my superhero outfit under my clothes today. I guess that shade of blue is a bit Captain America. My skirt seemed too cute, so I had to wear it with black and skulls, and a few studs to avoid the ache of sweetness. I’ve had this shirt forever and it is so worn and so ready to be retired, but I love it so. Even the bleach marks and the holes. My sweater is from Layers (now defunct) and my boots we’ve all seen many times before.
So about the skirt. I made it this weekend. Remember when I said I wanted to make a mama skirt forever ago? Well I finally got around to it. I’ve got another one almost finished as well. Super easy stuff. The skirt has grown on me like an ugly baby. It’s glaring flaws and ho-madeness make it adorable. Right? And $5 to whoever guesses where they’ve seen those pockets before.

“Urban Gypsy.”
Some of my titles come easier than others. This was an easy one. The bohemian skirt and the denim. I’m really into wearing jackets as shirts lately. Not sure why, but since it got kind of cold again, I’m taking advantage of the situation. I am a sucker for hoodies under jackets – especially on guys. It’s so college city, and so Desperately Seeking Susan. But if you’ve got broad shoulders (like me) it’s kinda hard to move sometimes.
Speaking of fashion suffering, this is the kind of thing that completely confuses MB. He can’t understand why you would wear anything the would inhibit your movement or something the least bit uncomfortable. Hence, his ever-growing man wardrobe from Duluth. Sometimes I ask his opinion about different outfits, and then we both wonder why I bother. Last week, he looked at both of my options and replied, “The one on the left looks more comfortable.” Well, that wasn’t what I asked was it? Total Mars vs. Venus moment, ending in us both sighing and shaking our heads.
More important than any of my fashion babbling, today is MB’s BIRTHDAY! What a hot old guy he is becoming. And what did he want for his birthday? A shotgun, naturally. We like to pack serious heat around here. (Why does it feel like every year we get closer to a double-wide in Northern Idaho? Just wondering.) In all seriousness, there is nothing better than celebrating the life of the person I love most in the world. Today is all MB, all the time, with some breaks for cake and obnoxious songs.
Happy Sunday Friends.

I am trying to type this up real quick, but MB is torturing me. He’s making dinner. It’s so hard to concentrate. The house smells glorious and it’s giving me a hunger headache. So anyway, here’s my outfit today. Let’s call it, “I’m black on the inside.”
Stripes and plaids should probably not be worn together, but I was really determined to wear my striped 3/4 sleeve shirt underneath. I wish you could feel the gauziness of this dress. It’s so soft and feminine, in a gothic kind of way. I’m not sure what else. I just felt a need to embrace my gloominess.
Oh, I know, one more thing from today. We wrapped up the marriage portion of our class at church and were getting feed back from the class about how we did. As one woman was politely telling us it was nice to have teachers that were “real” and not “sweet and polite,” Luna’s husband offered this gem:
“You inspire us through your mediocrity!”
It’s my new favorite quote. Worthy of vinyl or cross stitch.
Happy Sunday Friends!

Can I just say that I am freezing? I wish there were a place inside my house with more light, because this outside with no jacket thing is getting chilly. Well, I started with a jacket, but it’s not nearly warm enough. I can only say I am a fashion victim.

I don’t know what to say about this outfit. I’ve been entirely too distracted by the new class at church and making sure I don’t make a fool of myself. Though today kind of felt like “watch MB & AB crack inside jokes.” We need to find our groove. It was a bit bumpy and we need to smooth out the whole teaching as a pair thing. But overall, it’s kinda fun to be doing something with MB without the kids interrupting our every syllable. Oh wait, I thought of something about this outfit – the length of the dress and the tall boots do nothing for me. It makes me look kind of squat and I’m above average height, so that’s not a good thing.

So no church clothes to post today, but LegoManiac did get a shot of me before heading out Friday night. I was hoping to find some new boots. No luck. But I did get some quality time with the Gs. BTW girls, you all seriously need to work on your chow down skills if we’re to continue hanging out.

Usually I like to wait until October before breaking out the boots, but it was a perfect Fall day. Sue me.
and don’t forget the jacket:
I really, really wanted a tulle layer underneath, a la Cyndi Lauper. I considered trying Maxine’s tutu, but I realized there are some lines I should not cross.
It’s all I really want.
