Bullseye

Everybody loves Target. EVERYBODY. But I’m here to say, like those pesky intellectuals with their “I listened to NPR before it was cool” bumper stickers, that I’ve always loved Target. Back in the 80s I would go to this run-down Target in Southern Cali with my Granny. Alaska didn’t have a Target (In fact Anchorage didn’t get a Target until I was out of college). I remember I was always a bit scared in the parking lot, but you know, I was only 7, so I was probably just jumpy. What I’m saying is, I thought it was fun back before their mega face lift in the nineties. Somebody make me a bumper sticker now.

Because the thing about Target is that sometimes they will have stuff that you don’t know you need until you see it, and when you find it, you don’t know how you could have been living beforehand (and yes this is right after my poverty post). Yesterday I scored. I was there looking for milk, spray paint, loungy pants, and cake pans. That’s my for real list, and it reminds me again why I love the place. So cruising along I discovered a new aisles of kitchen storage – canisters, fruit bowls, bread boxes, just tons of stuff all with a modern mix of color and bamboo. I didn’t like Target’s boring pictures online, so I took some for you because I like you so much and not because I’m bored and desperate.

There were several colors to choose from: red, black, white, turquoise, and orange are what I remember. They say Room Essentials on the tag, but online they are listed as Pin Jang. FYI.

Salt and Pepper Shakers.

S & P, so you won’t get confused.

The turquoise isn’t going to work, so I’ve got to get back soon to get some white ones. The others are now happily laden with sugars and rice. I noticed that the selection online is not as big or varied, and I’m a bit worried it will be picked over soon. I really wanted the the shakers in white, but couldn’t find them. (I still can’t figure out why there were singles – who buys just a salt shaker? weird.) So if anybody sees them at a Target please grab them for me and I will reimburse you. Or let me know where you saw them.

I still don’t have cake pans……

I had a detailed conversation last night with my friend about which of our go-to stores we would choose to have plunked down here if we could only pick one. Target won, hands-down. I’m having fluff shopping withdrawal.

Where is the wallpaper? Is it new? (Yes, I’m on a commenting spree. What else to do when sick and sore in bed? Don’t worry, I’m harassing other people equally.)

Very cool backdrop. I love the containers. I was introduced to Target in college (there wasn’t one around in NYC at that point). I’m a big fan but I’ve been having trouble with their big girls section lately. I used to be able to find cute clothes including dresses for Laura pretty regularly, but lately it’s been nothing and nothing (actually, I think the harajuku mini maxi skirt is cute, but a maxi skirt just seems really impractical for a little girl to run around in). Is it just me? Or my local target?

CC, my sis in Canada is counting down the days b/c Target is coming. Switzerland’s gotta be next, right?

I wish. They don’t even have Amazon.

No, I’ve noticed that at our Target. Specifically that the jump from toddler clothing to big girls seems to mean that they dress like Bratz dolls. Most of it seems too adult for my taste. I’ve also thought a lot of the harajuku stuff is cute but not practical. It seems to be taking over the whole department right now and i’m wondering if it’s not selling as well as they’d hoped?
